WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STORYTIMES, LIBRARY LESSONS, AND DIGITAL BULLETIN BOARDS?
Library Storytimes
The October Library Bundle includes four Library Storytimes – Superstitions, Spiders, Election Day, and Halloween. These are for younger grades, typically Kindergarten – Grade 2 or 3.
Part I – All my Library Storytimes include a librarian- or teacher-led, whole-group lesson or activity (Part I). Part I includes a song or poem, sign language, and group discussion.
Part II – This an independent activity, designed to keep students on-task during library checkout. The scrolling slideshow can be part of a lesson, or it can just scroll on a monitor. The scavenger hunt includes images for students to find (and color) in Part II of the scrolling slideshow.
The scavenger hunt for Part II includes a version with minimal text that does not require reading to complete.
Standards-aligned lesson plans (editable) are also included. Standards include: CCSS, AASL, and TEKS (Texas).
Digital Bulletin Boards
This October Elementary Library Lesson Bundle includes three Digital Bulletin Boards – October Holidays and Celebrations, Election Day, and Halloween.
Digital Bulletin Boards are longer scrolling slideshows for elementary students that can read text.
All three of these Digital Bulletin Boards include Recommended Reads and two differentiated scavenger hunt activities. The October Holidays and Celebrations Digital Bulletin Board also include editable Take-Home Extension Activities.
Librarians / teachers can certainly use some slides as a lesson, but it does not have two separate parts like the Storytimes have.
Digital Bulletin Boards are designed as an independent library activities and are not designed as lessons. They do not include lesson plans. They do help keep students entertained so the librarian can deal with book checkout!
ARE ANY SLIDES IN THE OCTOBER ELEMENTARY LIBRARY BUNDLE DUPLICATED?
Nope! While some information may be similar between lower elementary and upper elementary slideshows with similar topics, no two slides or pages are the same in these lessons and activities. They are very different from one another.
