WHAT DO I ATTACH THE SHELF LABELS TO?

• You will need something to make the library shelf labels stand up on the shelves.
• I personally use clear, acrylic magazine file holders. The acrylic holders can be pricey, so you may find plastic or vinyl to be much cheaper. Search “magazine file holders” on Amazon or Demco for examples.
• You can also use old encyclopedias, dictionaries, or large 3-ring binders. Wrap them in colorful butcher paper to match the genre, then attach the shelf label to the book spine.

DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM SHELF LABEL MEASUREMENTS

• Wide shelf labels (print 3 per page) — 11″ tall (< 30cm) and 2.75″ wide (7 cm)
• Thinner shelf labels (print 4 per page) — 11″ tall (<30 cm) and 2.125″ wide (5.4 cm)
• Thinnest shelf labels (print 11 per page) — 11″ tall (<30 cm) and 1″ wide (2.5 cm)
• I designed these to be adjustable for shorter shelves. Simply trim off the lines across the top and bottom of the shelf labels to make them shorter. The lines and text are also 100% editable, so you can make whatever changes you need to accommodate your library shelves.

TO USE THESE SHELF LABELS:

• Choose whether you prefer color or black line labels. The color labels work best on white cardstock. Blackline labels are printer-friendly and look great on colored cardstock.
• Print, cut, and laminate the labels.
• Glue or tape the labels to vertical magazine files. Amazon has a wide variety of magazine files in different colors, sizes, and materials.
