THIS SHERLOCK HOLMES GRAMMAR ACTIVITY CONTAINS 3 PDF PAGES:

This Sherlock Holmes Grammar Activity features an excerpt from A Scandal in Bohemia, a short story originally published in The Strand Magazine in 1891.

The included passage describes Count Von Kramm, a masked “Bohemian nobleman” who seeks help from Sherlock Holmes and Watson early in the story. Of course, Sherlock Holmes quickly deduces “The Count’s” true identity, and the story begins.

  • Page 1 — Passage from A Scandal in Bohemia, with 15 words removed and changed into fill-in-the-blanks. The part of speech needed is listed in parentheses directly underneath the blank. Total passage length=120 words.
  • Page 2 — 15 fill-in boxes with only the part of speech listed. Students should fill in the boxes before they look at the passage.
  • Page 3 — Full 120-word passage from A Scandal in Bohemia, words used in the Grammar Fill-Ins are underlined.
