Podcast Ep10: Dealing with Teen Anxiety

Every school year around this time, I see students and teachers feeling a LOT of stress. Testing season is ramping up, projects and papers are due, and spring break feels so way too far off.

Anxiety is a real issue for many of today's teens (and adults), myself included. I know I try so hard to be perfect and "on top of everything" and smiling and happy, when often, I'm barely keeping my head above water. It's all an illusion! Pay no attention to that stressed-out librarian behind the curtain!
So I truly understand what teens and other teachers are feeling at this time of year. It's easy to lose sleep or forego the exercise in favor of working, working, working constantly. Today, we're talking anxiety, and I have called in my favorite school counselor to give us some insight into anxiety in teens and what schools and libraries can do to help.

I really hope you enjoy today's episode. It an important one.

  1. This is so timely! My 13 year old just had her first therapy appointment yesterday to start learning to cope with anxiety! I will share these books with her.

    1. Thanks, Dana! This is exactly why I do this booktalk/lesson with students each year. So important that they can recognize it, how common it is, and how they are not alone in their struggles.
