Recommend a book with a...Bad Boy

Ooh, I love the concept of "Recommend a..." from the Chick Loves Lit blog. This week's meme is "Recommend a book with a...BAD BOY."

Sexy tiger-brothers meet Indian mythology in my "bad boy" pick, Colleen Houck's Tiger's Curse. This is the story of two brothers who were cursed 300 years ago to live eternally as tigers. Now in modern-day Oregon, one of the tigers, Ren, meets the girl he believes can help release the brothers from the curse. Infused with plenty of Indian mythology and landscape, this epic quest and love story got my highest 5-star rating.

The "bad boy" in Tiger's Curse is Ren's brother, Kishan. Kishan's jealousy of Ren 300 years ago played a big role in the appearance of the tiger curse, and 300 years later, Kishan is still reeling over what happened so long ago to divide the brothers. While Ren is a "domesticated" white tiger who has lived in captivity for decades, Kishan is a huge, wild black tiger used to a life of isolation in the jungles of India. Kishan rather enjoys being a tiger and does not want to help his brother to track down the goddess Durga and break the curse. But as the curse begins to break down, Kishan and Ren both fall for Kelsey, and it seems history just might repeat itself.

And can I just say that while I have gotten less-enchanted with the Tiger Saga as the series continues, my MS students are absolutely smitten with it. We have some girls who have gone "fangirl" over it, wanting to talk about it all the time with anyone who will listen.

  1. I've been wanting to read this series, and you've made me even more curious! I'm loving the sound of the Indian mythology. :)

  2. For me, Tiger's Curse is the best of the three that are out. Quest and Voyage are also good, but the love triangle gets irritating after so long. Still, I'll be reading the next one this September. I have to know how it all works out!
