The Gardener (S.A. Bodeen)

Genre: Suspense/ Thriller

Why I chose it: I loved Bodeen's first book, The Compound. I am always a sucker for a writer who continually keeps her readers on their toes.

Summary: Mason was mauled by a dog when he was five and has significant facial scarring from the incident. Now a high-school student, Mason is a brilliant football player who dreams of attending Stanford University one day. His dreams seem within reach when his biology teacher encourages him to apply for an internship with TroDyn, the company Mason's mother works for. Unfortunately for Mason, his mother strenuously objects to Mason's application for the internship; she clearly knows something Mason does not.

So far...Okay, so I'm not all that far yet, around page 25. At this point though, I could take it or leave it. I am having trouble being interested as barely anything has happened yet. Mason seems a little too perfect--he is uber-smart, enormous, a great football player, a devoted and helpful son. Not your typical 15-year old boy.
